What is event about?

Edinburgh & Lothian Purple people have teamed up with Unlock Democracy, the Electoral Reform Society and Spin Watch to host an event at the Scottish Parliament as part of the public consultation for opening up Lobbying and to discuss the proposals of Neil Findlay's Private Member's Motion on Lobbying Reform.

Lobbying is a critical issue that we must tackle head on. Who has access to our politicians and what they are asking of them concerns all of us, but it is information we do not have access to.

As Neil Findlay MSP puts it, "Lobbying it is an important part of the political process, but it must be conducted to the highest possible standards. To ensure this, I believe we require much greater transparency and disclosure about who is lobbying whom, and on what issues."

Speakers for the event will be
  • Neil Findlay MSP
  • Peter Facey (Director of Unlock Democracy)
  • Willie Sullivan (Director of the Electoral Reform Society Scotland)
  • Will Dinan (Spinwatch Scotland)

They will be explaining the propasals of the Motion, answering your questions and listening to your views.

Join us for an evening of thoughtful discussion, an opportunity to learn more about lobbying and to feed directly in to the consultation.
