The Details

15th June 2012 - 7pm
Unlock Democracy and Greater Manchester for Greater Democracy have teamed up to host a public meeting with Michael Meacher MP, John Leech MP, Spinwatch Director Tamasin Cave and Unlock Democracy's Director Peter Facey talk about opening up lobbying. Prof. Colin R. Talbot, Director of 'Policy@Manchester' and Whitehallwatch.org blogger will be chairing the evening.
Lobbying is a critical issue. After years of seeing scandals surrounding Westminster and lobbyists both the public and government agree that something needs to change. However the changes being proposed by the government are weak and we are awaiting a response to the public consultation.
The campaign to open up lobbying didnt end with the close of consultation. We want you to be a part of keeping the debate on the agenda. The revelations from the Leveson Inquiry show just why we need to put a stop to paying for policy.
Michael Meacher MP, John Leech MP, Tamasin Cave (Director of Spinwatch) and Unlock Democracy's Director Peter Facey will be answering questions and listening to your views.
Join us for an evening of thoughtful discussion and an opportunity to learn more about lobbying.
