The Details
Join London for Democracy for a thoughtful afternoon of discussion and celebration of one of democracy leading campaigners from the suffragette movement Emmeline Pankhurst.
To mark the anniversary of Emmeline Pankhurst's birthday we are coming together to lay flowers at her statue. Special guest speakers will be joining us to honour her memory as we look to the future and continue to campaign for democracy that works for all.
Then we are off to our first Picnic for Democracy. Wear the colours of the suffragettes and democracy (Green, White and Purple). Dust off the flags and banners. Bring some food and drink to share with fellow democracy campaigners. Then get stuck into some thoughtful discussions and campaigns brainstorming.
Cannot wait till then? Want to get stuck in the democracy debates? Come say hello on our Facebook group here
p.s. a bit of history - Emmeline Pankhurst was one of the most influential figures in the suffragette movement. After a long campaign, suffragette campaigners finally won British women an equal right to vote in 1928.
p.p.s. Who are London for Democracy? We are collective of activists from across London who've come together to campaign for a better democracy whether that is changes through media reform, lords reform or electoral reform.
